Genesis Cluster Clients Take Grants on Same Day

It was a triple-play for Fayetteville tech companies in November.
Phil Stafford, president of the University of Arkansas’ Technology Development Foundation, said three UA Genesis Technology Incubator clients received four Phase II Small Business Innovation Research awards in one day, Nov. 15. The four awards, each worth $600,000, totaled $2.4 million, and they were all from NASA.
To top it off, the three companies are a “cluster,” meaning they have similar research and technology-related objectives — developing high-temperature tolerant electronics.
• Arkansas Power Electronics International received two awards to develop miniaturized multichip power modules, and one to develop ultra-lightweight power converters.
• Lynguent received an award for predicting the useful life of components past their rated temperature range.
• Power and Electronic Leveling Solutions’ award will fund research into a modular thermal management from a spray-cooled assembly.
