Northwest Arkansas changed to a new multiple listing-service provider on Dec. 1. The real estate database helps agents track property that is for sale, as well as providing other information.

The Northwest Arkansas MLS LLC — which includes Fayetteville, Springdale, Bentonville and Bella Vista — and the Rogers MLS both changed to a system called Mlxchange, which is produced by Interealty of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Mlxchange was launched in 2001 and was chosen from six different contract applicants, of which one was local. Mlxchange has 47 different clients and more than 200,000 users in the U.S. and Canada, according to its Web site.

“It is a Web-based MLS, which means I can get on any computer anywhere in the world and be connected to the MLS,” said Eric Hutchinson, executive broker of Hutchinson Realty. “I can get into my personal listings, make changes and so forth.”

Hutchinson said the change from a distributed to a Web-based system allows Realtors more capabilities.

Each individual agent can create a personal Web site and one for each client. Access to courthouse records and property tax information is also available now.

“It is actually a database manager as well, so if you are one of my clients, I can put you in as a client and it will automatically send you listings,” Hutchinson said.

The cost of the new system is the same as it was before, which is about $25 per month per Realtor.
