Wehco?s Purchase Nabs Downtown Fayetteville Building

Wehco Media Group’s purchase of 10 newspapers in August from the Walton-owned Community Publishers Inc. of Bentonville apparently included a piece of important real estate in downtown Fayetteville.

We noticed that Wehco, which is owned by Walter Hussman, paid $913,000 in September for the Northwest Arkansas Times building at 212 East Avenue in Fayetteville.

Northwest AR Times LLC paid $1.8 million for the same 17,000-SF building in 1999, but we believe that sale might have included a printing press.

Wehco of Little Rock, publisher of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, bought the Times, Benton County Daily Record and eight weekly newspapers from CPI. Neither party would disclose the terms of the deal.
