Ghost Garners Front-Page Coverage in Benton County (Outtakes Opinion)

We were a little spooked by the photo on the front page of the Benton County Daily Record on the morning of Oct. 31. At first, we couldn’t decide if the photo illustration by David Kever was a trick or a treat.

The only photo on the front page (not including those floating in the paper’s flag) was 10-inches tall and three-columns wide. It featured a semi-transparent woman on the stairs of the Peel Mansion in Bentonville.

While we think the story about “Minnie,” the supposed ghost, and the photo illustration made a great feature, we had misgivings about a daily newspaper allowing so much play with “fake” art.

However, we did like the subhead on the story: “A Day in the Afterlife.”
