Take 2 Adds Boob to Tube (Outtakes Opinion)

Over the years, we’ve been alternately amused and repulsed by the Take 2 Video ads on cable TV.

Their latest spot features a spokesmodel, Jessica, in a series of scantily clad still shots with a variety of costume changes and poses — all suggestive.

The voice-over on the spot talks about the store’s summer specials and encourages patrons to come in to get Jessica’s free poster. One of our staff took them up on the offer.

In the 18-inch by 24-inch full-color slick, Jessica is in a pink bikini surrounded by soap bubbles, pink and purple balloons and has a pink bubble gum bubble stuck to her lips. There’s a come-hither look in her eyes and enough cleavage to make Jane Russell blush.

We don’t take issue with titillating imagery as protected by the Constitution, but we think it might be time for the owners of Take 2 to decide if they’re running video stores or if they want to follow Larry Flynt into the publishing business.

We saw Jessica recently, working as a waitress at a well-known and well-attended restaurant. We wondered if she’s seen any additional tips on her tables.
