Benson’s Opens In Big Daddy’s Spot

Brian Schaisson and Zack Wakefield have sold Big Daddy’s sports bar and restaurant in Fayetteville’s Bakery Building to Kevin and Brittany Benson.
The couple plans to open Benson’s Bar & Que in the location on June 9.
Benson’s will serve “contest-quality”? barbeque, which is “slow-cooked with attention in the style of famous Memphis barbeque,” Brittany Benson said.
The restaurant will serve pulled pork, brisket, chicken and ribs in addition to appetizers and bar food. It will be open seven days a week for lunch and dinner.
“We wanted to create a space that is comfortable and fun for everyone — lunch through dinner, barbecue lovers, patio dwellers, drinkers, groups, families and friends, the whole community,”? said Kevin Benson, who grew up in Newport.
Brittany Benson, who is from Dallas, said her husband has worked as a cook in Fayetteville but this is their first time as restaurant owners.
Why barbecue?
“That’s just always what his love has been,”? Brittany Benson said of her husband’s food preferences. “He loves that method of cooking.”?
Benson’s Bar & Que has more than 6,000 SF of space and can seat about 250 including the patio.
