Forty Under 40: Blake Miller
Working with the many sectors that intersect with banking is what Blake Miller, 32, said he likes best about his job. A golfer and family man, Miller works primarily with about 110 customers through United Banks Fayetteville office.
A 2002 graduate of Southern Methodist Universitys commercial lending school and an enrollee in SMUs graduate banking program, Miller said several bankers have influenced his career including retiree James Stobaugh, First Financials Jerry Bullard and Chris Roberts of One Bank in Little Rock.
Miller earned a bachelors degree in journalism from the University of Arkansas in 1994. He held positions at Arvests Farmers & Merchants Bank in Prairie Grove and McIlroy Bank & Trust Co. before becoming a commercial account manager for Alltel Corp.
In 1997, he missed banking and joined what is now Bank of America in Fayetteville as a banking center manager.
He left Simmons First to help United Bank open its first Fayetteville branch.
Miller is a board member of the local Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the small-business fund-raising director for United Way of Washington County, a member of Fayettevilles Northside Rotary Club, a graduate of Leadership Fayetteville and a member of Fayetteville Country Club.
