Jim Blount said he’s doing exactly what he’s always wanted to do. He’s building his own financial business in Springdale.

Blount, 31, is president of The Point Financial Group and plans to sit for his certified financial planner exam this fall. He’s already a registered principal for The Point Financial’s independent brokerage, Linsco/Private Ledger in San Diego.

Because Springdale does not have any independent financial planners or investment advisors, Blount said he’s excited about providing his adopted hometown with “unbiased research and perspective on the market.”

His father, Dale Blount was transferred from rural Missouri to Springdale in 1986 for his work as a Baptist minister. Jim liked the area so much he stayed.

He graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1994 with a bachelor’s degree in human resource management. Blount worked at UPS as a preload supervisor through college, then spent six years with MetLife Financial Services before starting his firm.

The Point Financial employs seven people.

Blount serves on the boards of the Arts Center of the Ozarks, Har-Ber Meadows Property Owners Association and is active with the Kiwanis Club and Springdale Chamber of Commerce.
