Forty Under 40: Jeremy Webb

It seems Jeremy Webb, 26, has always been interested in business ownership and computers. But it took his college studies – computer systems engineering – to lead him to his current occupation and to rekindling friendships with childhood friends who are now his partners.

Webb, along with Matt Romine and Scott Mills, founded Interface Computer Center of Fayetteville five years ago. That’s three years before he finished his degree at the University of Arkansas.

Naturally, all Webb’s education didn’t come from books. One of the most expensive lessons he and his partners learned early on came when they lost money to a con artist who claimed to be selling computer parts on the Web. But they didn’t fold the business nor did they forget the theft. Instead, they helped the FBI make a case in what may have been the first Internet fraud case the agency ever had.

Out of that experience grew Interface Computer Center’s security services to clients, helping ensure that companies have secure computer systems.

Recently, Webb and his partners were honored as “Young Entrepreneurs of the Year” by the U.S. Small Business Administration for a five-state region. Webb has also been active with the Springdale Chamber of Commerce Technology Committee and conducted seminars for technological issues.
