Forty Under 40: David Earl Allen
By starting his own film production business, David Earl Allen sewed together an exciting reality from his life’s dream. Acting and directing in school plays, Allen enjoyed show business, but his love for business management never seemed to fit the picture. Finally, Allen discovered production, a process that involves a film’s every detail. From making decisions concerning choosing a director to editing the final product, the role seemed modeled for Allen.
Last year Allen started Kismet Productions Inc. with the financial backing of his family’s business, Allen Canning Co. Kismet plans to release “Cooties,” a feature-length romantic comedy, within five years.
Operating the business from offices in Los Angeles and Siloam Springs, Allen enjoys the excitement of his new career. Recently, Allen flew to Los Angeles to meet with the director and producer of the movie “The Green Mile.” Allen wrote a letter to author Stephen King, asking King to let him be involved with the movie. King took notice of the letter and told the producer that he should meet with Allen.
In Siloam Springs, Allen continues to serve a second term on the city council. He also plans to join the board of directors of the newly formed Allen Family Foundation.
