We hear the Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for a new membership drive event on March 8 and 9.
It took a cue from the Fort Smith Regional Chamber of Commerce, which did something similar in February 2004 and landed 304 members in two days. Word on the street is that if the Fayetteville Chamber gets to 305, President Bill Ramsey will get girly. That is, he’ll dress in drag.
The Fayetteville Chamber is also using the same consultant, who we’ve heard is in high demand. If you want him at your Chamber, plan to wait a year.
Jimmy Cusano of Your Chamber Connection in Fort Worth, Texas, coaches Chambers nationwide. He trains staff on how to keep members when renewals come due, said Blake Benson, vice president of operation for the Fort Smith Chamber.
Among those chairing the five teams are Pam Jones of Dixie Development and The Bank of Fayetteville’s John Lewis. Lewis already has Fayetteville Mayor Dan Coody and John White on his team. Be ready for a phone call soon.
