Fayetteville Tech Companies Get $270,000 in Grants
Two Fayetteville-based technology companies recently ratcheted up $270,000 worth of NASA-awarded Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) Phase I grants.
All three SBIRs were for continued research work with high temperature electronics for use in space exploration and underground applications.
Arkansas Power Electronics Inc. headed by Alex Lostetter received two awards worth $100,000 each. The company is a University of Arkansas Genesis Technology Incubator client and develops temperature-tolerant electronics based on silicon carbide. Silicon carbide is a substance theoretically temperature tolerant to 1,112 degrees Fahrenheit.
Power Electronics Leveling Solutions, headed by Jeremy Junghans, Panneer Selvam and Brian Rowden, also received an SBIR worth $70,000.
PELS is focused on the development of compact spray cooling assemblies for applications where silicon carbide or other solutions don’t completely solve the temperature problem.
