The 8,393-SF ballroom at the Rogers Expo Center will be named for Barbara Broyles, the late wife of University of Arkansas Athletic Director Frank Broyles. Barbara Broyles died in October after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Dixie Management and Investments LP owner Ben Israel is a friend of the Broyles family and wanted to do something to honor Barbara Broyles’ memory, said Kim Polite, director of events for the 53,410-SF Rogers Expo Center. The Expo Center, owned by Dixie Management and Investments, opened in November.

Polite said the company also plans to regularly offer its facilities for nonprofit use, first partnering with the Northwest Arkansas Alzheimer’s Association in Broyles’ memory. A “Midnight Masquerade” was planned for New Year’s Eve with funds raised going to the Alzheimer’s Association.

“It’s exposure for us and funding for them,” Polite said.
