Real PlanIT Computer Training started a computer skills testing center a few months ago that is saving a monthly drive to Fort Smith for dozens of information technology wannabes. Doug Germann, president and school director for Real PlanIT in Fayetteville, said the company’s new Certiport and Prometric Test Center is the only one in Northwest Arkansas.

The test center is one of four different aspects of Real PlanIT. Germann explained that the computer-training center also offers a career center that provides training for Microsoft systems administrator certification and more. They also host training sessions for local businesses, allowing the business to use its own instructors for classes in the computer training facilities at Real PlanIT.

Real PlanIT also has thriving information technology/computer consulting and computer system development businesses.

Real PlanIT has five full-time employees, including Whitmire and Germann and three instructors who work on a contract basis. All the instructors are certified in the area they teach, Whitmire said. Germann pointed out that Real PlanIT’s staff includes two of only five or so Microsoft Master Instructors in the state — one is Whitmire.

Real PlanIT leases about 5,800 SF that includes six classrooms and a testing center.

Whitmire and Germann declined to say what they invested in Real PlanIT to get started, but Germann noted that they are on track to meet their goal of paying off those startup costs by January.
