Cinnamon Trudo had stayed home with her kids for three years when she spotted the old Able Plumbing building on S.W. “A” Street in Bentonville was for sale. Soon she and her husband, Brad Link, a local builder, had purchased the building and planned to remodel it for a new business.
Purple Armadillo opened in March offering a variety of home decor and some furniture.
“We have everything from French Country to modern,” Trudo said. “We have art, some furniture, some bathroom vanities, anything you could possibly want to decorate your home.”
She plans to add two new employees in the coming year to help handle the store’s growing business in home fixtures, including lighting and other hardware.
Purple Armadillo has three full-time and three part-time employees, which doesn’t include Trudo, who also works full-time at the store.
The building has about 2,000 SF in showroom space and another 2,500 SF in office and warehouse space.
Trudo, a graduate of Rogers High School, said she’s proud of the local ownership and the progress the store has made since its spring opening.
She and Link invested almost $300,000 on the building and remodel. Trudo said they plan for a return on their startup investment early next year.
