Dave Bass plans to open a private club called Stir in the century-old Fayetteville building that previously housed Chester’s Place and for decades was home to The Library Club.

After he bought the business, Bass began renovating the building at 422 W. Dickson St. in April. The bar is scheduled to open on Oct. 21.

“It is literally a complete renovation,” said Bass, noting that only the roof had been left untouched.

Bass said the 2,700-SF building and 800-SF patio will accommodate about 350 people.

In addition to the main room, Bass said a VIP room upstairs will provide room for another 20 to 25 people. It will be equipped with curtains and leather couches.

Bass, who previously owned a music club called Dave’s on Dickson, said there will be no live music at Stir.

“I’m done with that,” he said.

Bass closed Dave’s on Dickson when his lease expired in March. He owns two other clubs, both of which are in the Dickson Street area: The Blue Parrott and 414 Club.

Bass said the name Stir “could mean a lot of things — people stirring around or stirring drinks.”

The building that will house Stir is owned by Burett and Margie Waggoner of Fayetteville.
