Although a local newspaper quoted the event organizer saying there were only seven arrests at this year’s Bikes, Blues & BBQ festival in Fayetteville, Sgt. Shannon Gabbard of the Fayetteville Police Department said the accurate number is 56.

But none of those 56 arrests were for felony offenses, and 48 of those folks live in Washington or Benton counties.

Sgt. Gabbard said there were a total of 109 charges related to the 56 arrests. Of those charges, 61 were for public intoxication or disorderly conduct.

Gabbard said there were three arrests for battery this year, as opposed to one last year.

Gabbard said Fayetteville police enforced laws in the usual manner during the festival, which was held Sept. 30 through Oct. 3.

Considering 200,000 people attended the event, 56 arrests doesn’t seem bad. Gabbard said more than 40 people were arrested the night of Sept. 11, when the Arkansas Razorbacks football team played Texas in Fayetteville, and about 75,000 attended that event.
