Financial A-Listers Attend UA-Texas Game
In addition to the former University of Arkansas sports celebrities in town for the Sept. 11 football game with the University of Texas Longhorns, a couple of financial industry A-listers also made the trip.
Pat Lynch, board director and treasurer of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, came as a guest of his friend Robin Ross, head of CME floor operations for Cantor Fitzgerald in Chicago. Ross’ mother, Mary Kay Surguine, lives in Bella Vista.
Jay McEntire, a former investment banker at Stephens Inc. turned tycoon, also came in for the game. McEntire is a UA alum and the stepson of Margaret McEntire, founder of the international Candy Bouquet chain.
McEntire became a multimillionaire by age 30 and was CEO of ProTrader Group Inc. of Austin, Texas, which was sold in 2001 to Instinet Corp. for $150 million.
McEntire has since turned his attention to pizza franchises in south Texas.
The high-finance crew also got in a round of golf in Bella Vista with Becca Garner, owner of SEC-registered investment advisor Garner Asset Management Co. in Fayetteville.
