Hunt, Graham Buy Block USA Properties

J.B. Hunt and Tim Graham have purchased Block USA’s concrete block plants in Springdale, Fort Smith and Russellville for an undisclosed sum. In addition, Hunt and Graham merged those plants with ABC Block of Arkansas to form a new company called ABC Central Block.

Terms of the deals are not being disclosed, but we understand it’s a multimillion dollar rollup for two of The Pinnacle Group’s four principals.

Hunt and Graham already owned concrete maker Central Redi-Mix Inc. and Northwest Arkansas Quarries LLC, both of Springdale, and Haskell Sand LLC in Haskell, Okla. By incorporating the sand and quarry aggregate materials for their concrete and block operations, ABC Central was basically created as a fully integrated building materials firm.

James Corbett and Jim Peckham, the former owners of ABC Block, had run the company since 1982 and they will apparently stay on in a management capacity.

The acquisition and merger give the surviving company a total of seven plant locations including Harrison, Searcy, Little Rock and Hot Springs. It is now the largest concrete block producer in Arkansas.
