Learning, Listening Spirit Shared by 2004 Honorees

Dear Readers,
Nearly every person profiled in the Northwest Arkansas Business Journal’s 2004 list of 40-under-40 honorees shared the same trait — a desire to continue learning. And this group, 40 up-and-coming executives and business leaders under the age of 40, is full of practitioners who are already incredibly accomplished in their respective fields.

Their desire to keep growing professionally, eagerness to accept constructive criticism and the passion to ask questions and emulate the best practices of others are what sets these folks apart.

Embracing change and challenges, they said, got them ahead.

Most of these individuals are also displaying initiative by volunteering in their communities and working on various boards to help make Northwest Arkansas a great place to live. They’re part of the next wave of leaders who will run our companies, build our roads and solidify our future as one of the strongest markets in America.

This eighth annual class was chosen from more than 210 nominations submitted by our readers. Priority was sometimes given because an honree was approaching the age of 40, but on the whole the selections are merit-based and reflective both of what the honorees have actually done and what they’re in a position to continue doing.

One honoree, Embassy Suites General Manager Robert Kisabeth, may have expressed the group’s spirit best by saying, “It’s OK to break the rules sometimes as long as you preserve the principles.”
