Allen W. Bird lll, a former Rose Law Firm attorney, now faces a civil lawsuit of more than $6 million generated from his alleged mishandling of a bankruptcy case that started nearly two decades ago. Bird’s license to practice law in federal court was revoked last year following a ruling by a federal judge that he “knowingly committed fraud” in the case, which involves a former Fayetteville money order company, Northwest Financial Express Inc. Bird served as trustee for the $8.5 million reorganization of NWFX and has a judgment pending against him for more than $199,979 in what was deemed improper billing practices.

The federal lawsuit was filed June 22 by Fayetteville attorney Erwin Davis on behalf of NWFX and two other subsidiary companies and their owner Larry Shaffer of Fayetteville.
