Benton County Hotels Lure Hog Fans

Fans of the Arkansas Razorbacks football team have been finding bargains in Benton County’s new hotels. Those hotels are usually packed with Wal-Mart vendors during the week but are empty on the weekends.

When the Hogs play in Fayetteville, visitors can stay at one of several Rogers or Bentonville hotels near Interstate 540 for about $50 per night. It’s a 25-mile drive from Fayetteville, but those hotels don’t require a two-night minimum stay.

Several Fayetteville hotels, such as the Holiday Inn Express, have a two-night minimum when the Hogs play in town. The Holiday Inn Express charges $109 per night during football game weekends, and from what we hear, they’re always booked solid by the time those weekends roll around.

The Radisson in downtown Fayetteville doesn’t require a two-night stay during game weekends, but one night there is $155 ($135 per night if staying for two nights). It’s already booked solid for all five home games this football season.

The swanky new Embassy Suites in Rogers doesn’t require a two-night minimum, but the hotel’s “high-demand” rate during game weekends is $179 per night. The Embassy Suites is already full for the Texas game on Sept. 11, said Robert Kisabeth, the general manager. And the hotel is just about full for Alabama on Sept. 25 and Georgia on Oct. 23.
