Huntsville-charted First State Bank of Northwest Arkansas has applied to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. and the Arkansas State Bank Department to operate a branch in Fayetteville at 300 N. College Ave. — the old SWEPCO building. Curtis Hutchins, president and CEO of the bank, said he expects the application to be approved and hopes to be in the new facility by July.

The bank will close its two-person Hindsville location in late June and eventually relocate those assets to Fayetteville. Hutchins said the new full-service branch will employ about 18 people in 10,000 SF of the building’s basement and first floor.

The Fayetteville building has one drive-through lane. First State, which has additional offices in Huntsville and Fayetteville, plans to build another.
