Nanomech?s Edge is Cutting
The latest Nanomech grant came from the Environmental Protection Agency. One of the applications of Nanomech’s technology involves special coatings for cutting tools used for machining.
Extreme friction has traditionally required certain cuts to be made underwater, which in turn causes waste water problems. By basing its design on the surface of a lotus leaf — which a microscope reveals is covered with tiny domes that control the flow of water — Nanomech’s coatings are self lubricating.
Ajay Malshe is Nanomech’s chief technology officer and creator. Alan Crouch, a consultant with VIC, serves as the firm’s virtual CEO.
