Morning News: Thanks for the Graphics (Outtakes Opinion)

In the past, we have complained about The Morning News not publishing graphics that would help explain numbers-heavy stories about the nation’s economy. After all, the graphics are provided by The Associated Press and require no real effort on the part of the newspaper.
Well, on Jan. 31, The Morning News ran a story on the business section front about a decline in the gross domestic product. With the story, the paper published a small, simple graphic that showed the GDP for the past 12 quarters. The graphic summed everything up at a glance for folks who want to see the quarterly changes since the 2001 recession.
Three days earlier, The Morning News ran a similar graphic to accompany a story about consumer confidence.
We’d like to say thanks for the graphics. Details like that make stories about the economy much more readable.
