Regions Holding Co. Outranks Arkansas Firms

More than $17.8 billion is held in Arkansas deposits by the 10 largest bank holding companies with offices in Arkansas. Of that amount, Fayetteville-chartered Arvest Bank Group Inc. is the largest in-state operation with 9.12 percent of the statewide market or $3.43 billion.

Arvest’s total includes its 2003 acquisitions (see chart) of Bank of Yellville and Superior Bank of Fort Smith.

Regions Financial Corp. of Birmingham, Ala., has the biggest share of Arkansas deposits at 10.78 percent, but Bank of the Ozarks Inc. in Little Rock had the best market share growth by an in-state firm at more than 27 percent.
