Dave?s Building for Sale for $1.2M
Richard Shewmaker has listed the Fayetteville building that houses Dave’s on Dickson for sale with Lindsey & Associates.r
The asking price is $1.2 million for the 9,000-SF Dave’s building, an adjoining 2,500-SF building and a 24,750-SF area outside that is currently used as a parking lot.r
If the property doesn’t sell, Shewmaker said he would consider leasing it again.r
In the meantime, Dave’s on Dickson will continue to operate as a music venue in the building until owner Dave Bass’ lease runs out at the end of March.r
“He has told me that when his lease is up, he’ll be leaving,” Shewmaker said, referring to Bass.r
Since taking over what had been called J.R.’s Dickson Street Ballroom in 1999 and reopening it as Dave’s on Dickson, Bass has opened The Blue Parrot and 4-14, two private clubs on Dickson Street. Also, last summer, he bought Chester’s, a Dickson Street bar that was known for decades as The Library Club.r
Shewmaker bought the Dave’s building in 1995 for $220,000, according to county records. It was constructed in 1950.r
“I understand, years ago it was a hatchery for Campbell Soup,” he said.r
Bob Hopmann, an agent with Lindsey & Associates, said he has had several calls about the property, which he began listing in October.r
“I think I’ve shown it one time,” Hopmann said on Nov. 18.r
