Ella?s Opens in Carnall Hall
Ella’s Restaurant opened on Aug. 18 in the newly renovated Inn at Carnall Hall on the University of Arkansas campus.r
Miles James, owner/chef at Inn at the Mill in Johnson, is the chef and manager of Ella’s.r
The inn and restaurant in Carnall Hall will serve as a training ground for UA students studying hotel and restaurant management.r
A total of $7.2 million was spent to renovate the 48,000-SF, 49-room inn. The building was constructed in 1905 and had been closed for the past decade because of its deteriorating condition. Room rates at the inn range from $80-$150 per night.r
The dinner menu at Ella’s includes 10 pizzas, ranging in price from $8-$11, five pastas ranging from $8-$12 and seven entrees ranging from $13-$24.r
At $24, the “Florentine ribeye steak with roasted vegetables and rosemary Yukon gold potatoes” is the most expensive item on the menu.r
The menu also includes five appetizers ranging in price from $5-$10, two soups ($5 and $7), risotto ($9-$11) and eight desserts, all of which $5.r
The three-page wine list included 24 different chardonnays, 19 cabernet sauvignons and 30 Italian reds. In each of those three categories, five of the wines were available by the glass rather than just by the bottle. The wine list also included a large selection of champaign, sauvignon blanc, Italian whites, meritage, pinot noir, merlot, zinfandel and dessert wines.r
Ella’s is open for lunch and dinner seven days a week.
