Dickson Street Needs Work
If it seems like the buildings on Dickson Street are getting a little taller, it’s not your imagination.
Dickson Street will be milled down to the level of the brick crosswalks that have been constructed within the last month, said Bootsie Ackerman, director of Fayetteville Downtown/Dickson Enhancement Project.
“It’s going to have to be milled down quite a bit in some areas,” she said.
The milling was part of the original plan for the $4 million renovation of Dickson Street’s sidewalks and the street itself. At least it’ll remove the dips that are in the street now.
Ackerman said the street and sidewalk work should be completed from Arkansas Avenue to Church Street by the time the Arkansas Razorbacks play Auburn in Fayetteville on Oct. 11.
That includes a big red Razorback hog that will be inlayed at the intersection of Dickson and Arkansas streets. The hog may even be in place by the time of the first home football game against Tulsa on Sept. 6, she said.
