United Way Provides $1.23 Million Locally
Thirty-six nonprofit agencies will receive funding this year from the United Way of Washington County. The United Way’s Allocations Committee studied the needs being met and the organization’s fiscal responsibility in determining which groups would get funding.
United Way President Linda J. Brown said the $1.23 million in funding went to organizations with services that “reflect the most pressing issues in our society.” Affordable health care, people in crisis situations, helping people live independently, strengthening families, and facilitating senior citizens and children are just a few areas of concern listed by Brown.
