Mohammad Ashfaq plans to open a Neighborhood News stand in the food court of Fayetteville’s Northwest Arkansas Mall by early July. The business will occupy a 470-SF spot that was home to The Philly Grill, which moved to south Fayetteville in February.

Ashfaq, who goes by “Mo,” said he started the company five years ago and also has Neighborhood News stands in malls in Oklahoma City and Tulsa.

The news stand will sell newspapers, magazines, over-the-counter medicines, fountain drinks, coffee, candy and cigarettes. Neighborhood News will also offer services like mailing, faxing, photocopying, check-cashing and movie tickets sales. It will be open from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 11 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. on Sundays.

Alice Bishop Church, the mall manager, said it makes sense to have the news stand in the food court. The mall food court has 12 rental spaces, which is two more than most malls, Church said.

“It’ll be attractive to customers and employees,” she said.
