McClelland Engineers Celebrate Anniversary

McClelland Consulting Engineers of Fayetteville has turned 40 years old. One of the state’s largest civil/environmental consulting firms with 80 plus employees, MCE has grown from a one-man consulting office in 1963 to 80 employees today.

The late J. E. “Ep” McClelland Sr. opened the office in 1963 just off the Fayetteville Square. Some of its past projects in Northwest Arkansas include the University of Arkansas’ Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium, Bud Walton Arena and Baum Stadium. It is involved in numerous ongoing campus projects and is helping with a facility expansion at the Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport.

Johnny Quinn is president of MCE. He said the Fayetteville office serves about 30 cities from Waldron to Russellville to Harrison. Jim McClelland is chairman and CEO of MCE.

The McClelland family has provided scholarships for civil engineering students at the UA. To honor its founder on the company’s 40th anniversary, McClelland endowed a two-year civil engineering scholarship in the name of J. E. and Maurice McClelland, matching a portion of the Walton family gift during the UA “Campaign for the Twenty-First Century.”
