Murray Featured in Inc. Magazine
Andy Murray, CEO of ThompsonMurray, was featured in the March 1 issue of Inc. magazine.
In the article titled “How I Did It: Luring the Hip to Arkansas,” Murray tells how he “woos skeptical urbanites” from New York and Chicago to work for his Springdale advertising and marketing firm.
Inc. said ThompsonMurray’s sales have incrased by 30 percent-40 percent in each of the past several years, and annual revenue is about $15 million. Murray hired about 60 new employees last year, half of them from big-city agencies.
One of the ways Murray lures the talent to the Ozarks is with his monthly “star derrière” trophy, Inc. reported. The award, which is shaped like a horse’s behind, is given to employees who aid colleagues in trouble.
The article didn’t mention it, but Murray has also hired several employees from competing advertising agencies in Northwest Arkansas.
