The homes will utilize a spray-on, bio-based soy oil insulation foam that Israel said is “three times more energy efficient” than common insulation.
They will also have metal studs and trusses that are fire- and bug-resistant. The studs and trusses are produced by another of the company’s divisions, Next Generation Steel Systems in Rogers.
Jim Cronkwright is president of Next Generation, formerly Dixie Building Products. The studs are built from recycled steel such as cars, air conditioners and refrigerators. They will not fuel fire and are impervious to rot and termites. Coastal states have been using the steel studs due to their safety in hurricanes. The studs are also precisely pre-built, therefore making for a very clean job site.
Dixie Tree Transplanting Services and director Rose Knowld will be planting at least one large tree — 5-8 inches in diameter — on each lot. The trees will be either red maple, pin oak, red bud, sugar maple, dogwood or pine.
The floor plans, carpeting, tile, cabinets, light fixtures have been planned by Dixie’s interior decorator Pam Jones.
