Suspicious Package Offered by Alumni Association

The Arkansas Alumni Association seems to want to help Razorback fans get to Nashville, then leave them on their own looking for a ticket for the upcoming bowl game.

Arkansas meets the University of Minnesota Gophers on Dec. 30 in the Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl.

Once again, the Alumni Association is offering a bowl package for Hog fans that just doesn’t add up to much of a deal.

In its letter to members, the Alumni Association offers a two-night (Dec. 29-30) package at the Opryland Hotel that includes a pre-game party and brunch, transportation to the game and souvenirs such as a souvenir name badge and game program.

This package is $310 per person if double occupancy, $460 if single occupancy.

There is no ticket included in the Alumni Association’s package, which is once again handled through Total Sports Travel of Montgomery, Ala.

We checked with a local travel agency, which quoted us a two-night official Music City Bowl package that did include a ticket to the game. The official bowl package offered transportation not only to the game, but also to downtown Nashville for shoppers interested tourists. It also offers a breakfast buffet.

And something to yell even louder about is the savings with the official bowl package: its cost is $236 if you stay at the Gaylord Opryland Resort, $186 if you stay at the Radisson Hotel Opryland.

Also in the Alumni Association letter, fans were offered a chance to purchase game tickets for $50 through Total Sports Travel. Fans are also told round-trip airfare from XNA to Nashville is $455. We checked on Dec. 10 and were quoted $199 for the same flight.
