Shreve Imaging
Don Shreve is using his love of photography and his journalism background to start a new business. Shreve Imaging specializes in on-location digital photography for commercial and editorial clients.
With the equipment of a full digital studio loaded in his truck, Shreve said he’s able to get professional studio quality in a non-studio environment.
Shreve has eight years of experience as a reporter and nine years of commercial studio experience.
“The big thing I have to offer is the solid commercial studio skills combined with my editorial journalism skills,” he said.
Shreve also has another skill that he believes makes the mobile-studio idea work. “I’m able to think on my feet clearly, solve a lighting problem quickly … I like to be in different places and solve different problems.”
His desire to stay in the area and his personal drive to do something he loved convinced him it was time to start his own business.
“I like to be out and shoot in different locations. I pack up the whole studio in my truck and use it as I need it.”
Shreve has a journalism degree from Wichita State University, but worked as a portrait and wedding photographer before college in the early 1980s.
He contracts with several public relations firms across the state and free-lances for corporate and editorial clients.
Shreve had about $15,000 in photography equipment before starting Shreve Imaging. He invested another $15,000 to get it going, all without a business loan. He launched Shreve Imaging after saving the money for the additional equipment.
