United Bank Plans Large Expansion
United Bank and United Holding Co. on Oct. 31 announced plans for the construction of the $3 million United Building, a two-story, 30,000-SF office building adjacent to United Bank’s Springdale headquarters.
The new building, scheduled for completion in late 2003, will be home to the company’s retail and wholesale mortgage servicing operations, investment planning services and other bank operations.
United General Builders Contractors Inc. of Springdale will be the general contractor on the project.
The company also said that United-Bilt Homes Inc., a sister organization, will have its corporate offices in the building.
Professional lease space also will be available in the building.
The company said construction of the building became a necessity as a result of United Bank’s growth to more than $100 million in assets, as well as future expansion plans in the Washington and Benton County markets.
“We’re excited about the new facility and the opportunities it affords us to better serve our customers,” Don Pitts, chairman, said.
Griffin Company to Get New Facility
Griffin Company Realtors of Springdale in October held a groundbreaking for its new $1.9 million offices expected to be completed next fall.
Currently located at 3200 Henryetta St., Griffin’s new two-story, 21,000-SF facility will be at 5600 S. Thompson St. Griffin Company, owned by Gary Griffin and Philip Taldo, will occupy the bottom level and lease the top level.
Griffin Company has 39 licensed Realtors. Its growth in the last three years in Springdale and its desire to provide better service in Fayetteville mandated the move to larger quarters.
Nabholz Construction Corp. of Rogers is he general contractor on the building.
Griffin Company sells residential, commercial and farm properties. It covers Northwest Arkansas from Fayetteville to Rogers and from Huntsville to near Siloam Springs.
Griffin Company is affiliated with RELO, the largest independent referral network in the nation. The partners also have a development company, One Springdale Inc., which has developed 15 subdivisions. One Springdale also has a residential division called Colonial Properties. Both of those divisions will operate out of the new facility.
Clinard Building Bentonville Offices
Clinard Construction Co. of Bentonville recently purchased a building permit valued at $1.89 million to add a new office building for suppliers to Wal-Mart Stores Inc. in Bentonville.
The building will be 22,000 SF and will be at 1211 28th St. It will be owned by a private investor.
Among the vendors already planning on leasing space in the new building are Hershey Food Corp. and Coty Fragrance. It is expected to be ready for occupancy in March.
Woodworks Plus, Lindsey Continue Carriage Square
Woodworks Plus of Farmington recently purchased 17 more building permits valued at a combined $1.39 million to continue its addition of a west Bentonville subdivision.
Carriage Square, located off Arkansas Highway 102 near Kristyl Heights and Eagle Crest subdivisions, has 189 lots. Woodworks Plus will be building 80 homes at Carriage Square. In October, Woodworks Plus purchased 36 building permits for Carriage Square valued at a combined $3.03 million.
Also, on Oct. 10, John David Lindsey of Link & Will LLC got a loan of $2.36 million from Regions Bank in Rogers to have several homes built at Carriage Square.
Jim Lemons of Bentonville is the developer of Carriage Square.
Homes at the subdivision will range from 1,350-1,575 SF.
College Place Construction Keeping Riverstone Busy
Kim and Betsy Greehey of Riverstone Builders-Developers Inc. of Bentonville on Oct. 1 got seven loans totaling $1.24 million from Arvest Bank to add more homes at an east Bentonville subdivision.
College Place subdivision is located on the border of Bentonville and Rogers off Water Tower Road.
Homes at College Place will range from 2,000-2,600 SF. The latest development there is phase 6 of the subdivision, which will include about 70 lots. All of those lots are sold. There are about 100 more lots still to be developed at College Place for future construction.
Boys & Girls Club Awaits Expansion
The Boys & Girls Club of Benton County on Sept. 30 secured a loan of $1 million from Arvest Bank to help finance the expansion of its Bentonville headquarters.
The Carl & Eileen McKinney Club at 2801 Walker St. already has 17,000 SF. The new addition will be 5,900 SF and is expected to be completed in April.
The new addition will include a special events room with a seating capacity of 150, complete with a stage and full-service kitchen.
SSI Inc. of Northwest Arkansas in Tontitown is the general contractor on the club’s expansion.
Tom Hough, director of the Boys & Girls Club of Benton County, was named Nonprofit Executive of the Year at the Northwest Arkansas Business Journal’s 2002 Business of the Year awards banquet.
Hidden Lake Subdivision Gets Multifamily Units
Chris Elder of Elder Construction Co. in Springdale recently purchased two building permits valued at a combined $504,080 to begin construction on what will eventually be six quadplexes in east Springdale.
The multifamily units will be part of Hidden Lake subdivision, which is just off U.S. Highway 412. Each individual unit will be about 1,100 SF each.
Rogers Church Plans for Growth
Peace Lutheran Church of Rogers on Sept. 26 got a $450,000 loan from Bank of Rogers to purchase land for possible future construction.
The church, located at 805 W. Olrich St., has about 900 members.
It purchased 18 acres near the Bellview and Perry roads area in southwest Rogers. But a spokesman for the church said it would be a minimum of 3-5 years before any construction would take place.
