The Northwest Arkansas Business Journal published its annual list of the area’s top Small Business Administration lenders on Sept. 16. That list ranked lenders by the number of SBA loans they issued during the calendar year 2001.

Arvest Bank-Springdale, with 10 loans totaling $960,000, topped the list. The highest dollar value was represented by its sister institution, Arvest Bank-Rogers, with eight loans totaling $1.7 million.

But a look at a more updated survey by the SBA office in Little Rock shows that Arvest Bank-Rogers would have finished No. 1 if the list’s time frame was June 2001 through June 2002.

During that time, Arvest Bank-Rogers has made seven SBA loans totaling $1.5 million. The next highest totals in the June-to-June comparison were had by the Arkansas National Banks in Fayetteville and Rogers at five loans each totaling $1.1 million and $566,000, respectively.

Of the five largest cities in Northwest Arkansas, Rogers had the most SBA loans from June to June with 16 totaling $2.2 million. Fayetteville was next at 13 totaling nearly $4.7 million.
