Maloney Associates Inc. of Cave Springs was the only Northwest Arkansas-based advertising agency that was honored June 13 at the annual banquet of the Arkansas chapter of the American Bankers Association Marketing Network.

The event, held at DeGray Lake Resort State Park & Convention Center, featured statewide entries in eight media categories. Banks were divided into four divisions by their assets as follows: more than $500 million, $250 million-$500 million, $100 million-$250 million and less than $100 million.

Two of Maloney’s honors came in the smallest bank division. The firm won first place in the “TV campaign” category for its Bank of Rogers campaign. Mike Maloney, the agency’s president, said the series of ads packed a simple message.

“We wanted to find a message that would separate Bank of Rogers from all the other banks in the market,” Maloney said. “We wanted a message that would relate a simple theme, and we went with their slogan, ‘We have roots where others have branches.’

“We used images of a tree growing with an original score but no voice over. It was just a real nice series of spots.”

Maloney produced all five of its Bank of Rogers TV ads in-house for less than $1,500.

Maloney also won honorable mention in the same division for the black-and-white newspaper ads it did for Bank of Centerton. The agency got another honorable mention in the $100 million-$250 million bank division for the magazine and trade publication ads it did for Arkansas State Bank in Siloam Springs.

Maloney Associates, founded in 1993, employs seven people.

None of the Northwest Arkansas ad agencies or banks received a “best of show” award, which is the highest award given by the marketing network. Arvest Bank Group Inc.’s “Sweetest Days” campaign dominated the largest bank category but was produced by Sells/Clark Inc. in Little Rock.
