Tyson Foods Inc. of Springdale on May 28 signed a purchase agreement to sell one of its two Mallard’s Foods processing plants in Modesto, Calif., to Michael Angelo’s Gourmet Foods Inc. of Austin, Texas.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the sale will include the Mallard’s Stoddard Road facility which produces gourmet pasta and sauces.

Tyson Foods has owned the Mallard’s Foods plants, which operate under the Tyson Prepared Foods group, since 1997.

Michael Angelo’s will offer jobs to the plant’s 133 workers, Tyson Foods said.

Last month, Tyson reported a second-quarter profit as sales rose sharply, boosted by its acquisition of meatpacker IBP Inc.

On May 21, Tyson completed its purchase of a bacon processing facility in Omaha, Neb., from Millard Refrigerated Services. Terms of that transaction were not released.
