The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, the Southwest Times-Record of Fort Smith and the three area television stations did a terrific job covering the May 26 collapse of the Interstate 40 bridge at Webbers Falls, Okla. KFSM-TV, Channel 5, broke the story that morning and interrupted broadcasting throughout the day to keep viewers informed. Although the horrific accident occurred outside Arkansas’ borders, the D-G thoroughly covered almost every imaginable angle of the story.
