Courteau Essay Makes Harper?s

Sarah Courteau, a former reporter for the “Business Matters” section of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, had an essay published in the June issue of Harper’s Magazine.
Courteau left her job at the D-G last year and is now a graduate student in the nonfiction writing program at the University of Iowa.
The essay, titled “Chicken 81,” is about her mother killing chickens for Tyson Foods Inc. of Springdale and befriending one in particular that she decided to adopt. Courteau’s mother is a part-time sculptor who lives near Elkins.
