Stacey Roberts was hired on May 31 to be the next managing editor of the Northwest Arkansas Times in Fayetteville. Roberts will begin working at that job in July.

Roberts is currently managing editor of the Batesville Daily Guard in Independence County. She has been managing editor there for the past two years. She also served as a reporter for one year at the Guard covering the police, courts and the county beat.

For two years before that, Roberts worked as a reporter for The Benton County Daily Record.

Roberts grew up in Jackson, Miss. She earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern Mississippi and a master’s degree from Mississippi College.

Roberts replaces Lucas Roebuck, who resigned in January to run for state representative from District 97. Roebuck lost that election with 23 percent of the vote, compared to 57 percent for Mike Kenney and 20 percent for Benton Bandy. Roebuck was managing editor of the Times for about a year.

The Times is owned by Community Publishers Inc. of Bentonville and is circulated with the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.
