Cindy Webb and Steve McCarthy founded Promethean Partners to teach leaders of nonprofit businesses how to promote themselves. They instruct administrators in fundraising, business strategy and marketing.

The consulting firm is headquartered in a tiny garage office in the Three Sisters Building on Dickson Street. Promethean Partners’ client list includes The Nature Conservancy and Benton County Habitat for Humanity, and the Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship program.

“[McCarthy and I] both believe in building the internal capacities of the organizations we work with,” Webb said. “We teach them how to fish.”

Webb’s experience includes 21 years as a fundraiser, and she described the new business as an extension of the work from her previous consulting company, C.F. Webb Consulting in Fayetteville.

McCarthy joined the company partnership with 18 years of fundraising experience.

Webb said she and McCarthy named the business after Greek mythology’s first philanthropist, Prometheus, who is said to have given people the ability to make fire. In mythology, humans could then survive without dependance on the gods.
