Norwood Leaves Heart Association

Angela Norwood resigned from her job with the American Heart Association on May 8.

Norwood joined the Heart Association in 1999 and has served since then as Northwest Arkansas Regional Director, Metro Executive Director and Arkansas Field Operations Director.

Norwood said her most recent position as field operations director was stressful and required the kind of lifestyle the Heart Association warns against.

“I was doing an extreme amount of travel,” Norwood said. “I want a position where I can utilize my public relations skills, where I can utilize my sales ability. I am not a behind-the-desk person at all.”

On April 19, Norwood and Sarah Dunnahoe purchased the Dickson Street Diner, but Norwood said her decision to resign from the Heart Association was “in no way connected to the restaurant.”

“I am still seeking other career opportunities,” she said. “I am looking for a regular job, but in the meantime I’m working on freelance projects.

“It was a very friendly departure. I’ll be one of the Heart Association’s best volunteers because I know the ins and outs of it.”

As of press time, the Heart Association hadn’t hired a replacement for Norwood.
