Belk Opens Rogers Store

Belk Inc. opened a 73,777-SF department store in Rogers’ Scottsdale Center on March 6.
This is the third store in Arkansas for the Charlotte, N.C.-based retailer. The others are in Paragould and Stuttgart.
Julie Laird, manager of the Rogers store, said Belk has more than 250 stores nationwide. Belk is the largest privately held family department store chain in the United States.
“It’s a full-line department store with cosmetics, clothing and home items as well,” Laird said. “We’re similar to Dillard’s.”
Laird said the Rogers store is a new prototype designed for shopping centers. At the same time it opened the Rogers store, Belk opened identical stores in Morristown, Tenn., and Norcross, Ga.
Laird wouldn’t reveal sales numbers for Belk, but she said the Rogers store stocks 75,000 pairs of shoes.
