Austin Moore opened his first restaurant, a Firehouse Subs store, on Feb. 14 in Fayetteville’s Kantz Center at the intersection of Arkansas Highways 265 and 45 (Mission Boulevard and Crossover Road).

If all goes well, Moore plans to open a second location in Fayetteville and a third Firehouse Subs in Springdale.

Moore received a bachelor’s degree in education in the fall of 2000 from Arkansas State University. Originally from Blytheville, he moved to Fayetteville to oversee the operation. His father, Jerry Moore, is his business partner.

Moore said the Firehouse Subs in Kantz Center will be open from 10:30 a.m. to about 9 p.m. seven days a week. He said the restaurant will serve sandwiches, chili and two different soups daily.

The chain is operated by Firehouse Restaurant Group Inc. of Jacksonville, Fla.

With more than 40 stores in four southeastern states, Firehouse Restaurant Group hopes to open 300 more within five years. In 2000, the average Firehouse Subs store had revenue of $529,000 per year.
