Sarah Faraj appreciates the sparkle of an antique jewel. In her new Fayetteville store, Diamond District, Faraj sells new and vintage jewelry pieces that she finds through antique shopping and estate sales.

Located in a 1,400-SF shop, Diamond District doesn’t carry any brand names. Instead, Faraj stocks her cases with current and classic styles that she chooses. The store displays jewelry in a 650-SF showroom, and Faraj stores her jewelry repair and cleaning tools in the remaining area.

Diamond District is Faraj’s first ownership, but she said she worked in a comparable store in Louisiana for six years. Faraj said she became certified with the Gemological Institute of America in 1999 and has lived in Northwest Arkansas for one year.

Because she already owned most of her tools and equipment, startup costs for the business were about $80,000.
