Beall Uses Internet to Recruit to Students

Beall Barclay & Co. PLLC of Fort Smith is using its Web site as a recruiting tool for prospective top-notch employees.

Randy Philpot, managing member of the $5 million accounting firm, said although Beall has a solid group of partners, it’s committed to developing the company’s next generation of leadership. The company spent $50,000 during 2001 on leadership training workshops for all of its accountants.

Philpot said the partners also want to make sure the firm remains infused with the brightest prospects coming out of the state’s universities. So last year it upgraded its Web presence at www.beall-cpa.com to include photos of staff members and testimonials about why they enjoy working at the firm.

“In the last five years,” Philpot said, “students do their homework about your firm before you even meet with them. That’s already helped us land some great hires like Christina Webster from the University of Arkansas, who said she read the testimonials, and that was one of the things that influenced her to come to work here.”

Webster now heads up Beall’s Web-site committee.
