Mathews Brothers Consider Ronald Room

Bill and Walter Mathews, known collectively as Mathews Management Co. of Springdale, are considering establishing a Ronald McDonald House family room at a Northwest Arkansas hospital.

Mathews Management owns 20 McDonald’s restaurant franchises in the area.

Bill Mathews said the “room” would contain living space, kitchen space and separate sleeping rooms. The facility would require renovation work to be done at an area hospital, but no decisions have been made concerning the location or if the family room will be built. Mathews said cost of a similar facility in Kansas City was around $500,000.

“We’re just in the preliminary plans,” Mathews said. “We’re just kind of looking into it right now.”

Mathews said the facility would serve as a “home away from home” for family members who have a loved one in the hospital.

Mathews said he should know within the next three months whether the family room will be constructed.
